The BIA is a putrid carbuncle on the body politic of America.
It must be lanced and removed for our freedom loving society to become healthy.
The recent 3.5 Billion Dollar settlement of Cobell vs Salazar, has provided the American taxpayers all the proof needed to demand that the Department of Interior, end the reign, of the free World’s oldest and longest running criminal enterprise: The Bureau of Indian Affairs. The BIA is older than La Cosa Nostra by half a century. It is a 186 year old illicit government agency that is administering a racial segregation and purification program; in violation of the Constitution, as well as the laws of humanity. The BIA has swindled and plundered Native American communities with impunity for two centuries. Enough is enough!
No branch of government has the power or authority; to establish or, maintain racial enclaves such as the ones administered by the BIA. Neither the President nor Congress has ever had the legal or moral authority to fund this agency with taxpayer revenues. The BIA has survived because we have been defrauded by lies and subterfuge, until we became so deluded, we began to perceive this immoral and illicit conduct as lawful and, worthy of taxpayer support. We enjoy the fallacy; that we created these racial enclaves with the help, and for the benefit of the Indian communities. We have blissfully come to accept them as a lawful and morally acceptable method, to preserve their culture and heritage.
We should throw a bucket of very cold water over our heads, to awaken us from our reverie! Read the history of this antebellum, racist institution, which was born out of ignorance and bigotry of 1824 America. The BIA didn’t create their compounds to preserve or “reserve” anything. Preservation was not a noted trait of early Americana; especially the ones that were slaughtering American Bison by thousands everyday. We established and funded these racist enclaves, in order to eradicate their culture, so we could replace it with our own.
We all are aware, but many choose to ignore, that we segregated these people under the very real threat of annihilation of their entire race. If they left the Bureau of Indian Affairs reservations; they would be captured or killed! The argument that reservations were a necessary evil of the time, is also not born out by the history. For example; the misconception that Indian communities didn’t want to be assimilated, is one of the lies proffered, to make us ignore our morals, and precepts as a nation of human beings. Yet, it has become legendary that all Indian communities didn’t wish to assimilate with white society.
This nonsense has been peddled so long, that some Native Americans, have come to accept it as true. Hogwash! Most Indian communities of the period struggled hopelessly, under inadequate conditions and provisions, courtesy of the BIA. They struggled to “learn white man’s ways” attempting to adapt to the societal changes, life had thrust upon them. They were struggling against the world we created for them; just as the 26,000 wards of the BIA, that are living in third world poverty today are doing. Sadly, even experienced farmers of the period, could not grow corn in the desert; with little water, and no pesticides! God bless them though, the reservation Indians still tried.
The fact is; if Indian communities intended to see their race survive; they had to learn to accept into eternity, the BIA boot on their back. To our eternal shame as a bastion of freedom, too many have come to accept it. Native American Cultures, are like all cultures, when it comes to survival. They have had to adapt to whatever circumstances the universe happens to cast upon them. The year before Presidents Adam and Jefferson died the universe cursed them with the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
It is not surprising that many modern Native Americans are anxious about being assimilated at this late date. However, their angst does not necessarily mean; that they need or want the BIA, to continue in control of their Tribal lands and affairs. In fact, it is certain that afforded their property rights, they could hardly do a worse job of protecting their property and culture than the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
